Scholarship Grants
The Philadelphia Chapter of the CPCU Society has a Scholarship Fund to make annual grants-in-aid to those meeting our qualifications and criteria. The total amount of grants will vary each year and is discretionary with the Board of Directors. Generally speaking, the amount of each individual grant will vary between $250 and $1,000 depending on the budget and the number of worthy applicants during any given year.
Each year the Philadelphia Chapter is pleased to award academic scholarships to deserving applicants. To be eligible the applicant must;
1a. be a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the CPCU Society; or
1b. be the spouse, child, stepchild, grandchild, dependent, brother or sister of a person who is a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the CPCU Society; and
2. be enrolled at an accredited two or four year college or university in a full time associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree programs; and
3. not have been awarded this scholarship in the past.

How the winners are decided:
The scholarship chair selects a 3 person review panel from the membership. These panel members can not be family members or sponsors of an applicant. The scholarship chair then redacts all reference to names and social security numbers in each applicant’s submission. Each applicant is given a number and their submission is coded with that number. The review panel is given the submissions and makes their selection without knowing the name of the applicant. The review panel will then make their selection and advise the scholarship chair.
The scholarship chair will advise all the applicants as to whether they were selected or not. Selected applicants are invited to attend the June chapter meeting to receive their award.
