View Julianne's Presentation on Public Entities
On Thursday, February 27th, we kicked off our first breakfast meeting of 2020, with an engaging presentation by Julianne Shillington, AVP for Munich Re Specialty Insurance. Julianne began her presentation with an overview of the Public Entity insurance market, followed by an in-depth assessment of the current trends within the various (liability-focused) lines of business of the public entity marketplace: Auto Liability, General Liability, Professional Liabililty, and Cyber. Some of the trends Juianne highlighted affecting the various lines of business: TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) driving up claims settlement awards, larger verdicts (across all business lines), sexual abuse & molestation concerns/issues, #MeToo movement (EPLI), social inflation. Upon concluding her presentation, Julianne opened up the floor for questions from the audience. The general consensus from those that attended (including RMI students from Temple & Saint Joe's universities) was that everyone thoroughly enjoyed Julianne's presentation and we all learned more about public entity insurance -- a specialty insurance area most of us have not been exposed to.
