Walter G. Butterworth, CPCU - In Memoriam

Walter G. Butterworth, CPCU
Past President 1971-72

The Philadelphia Chapter of the CPCU is saddened to learn of the passing of Past President Walter G. Butterworth, CPCU.

Fellow CPCU, Robert S. Seltzer, has provided us with a memoriam for Mr. Butterworth.

I only recently became aware of the death of Walter G. Butterworth, CPCU in August, 2009, and was saddened to hear that news.

I first met Walter when we were taking CPCU classes together, and he later became the Philadelphia Chapter President.

After a long career with The Insurance Company of North America's Reinsurance Division, Walter joined Cohen-Seltzer, Inc.  He transitions with ease from an insurance company executive to an insurance agent and served in an account executive and management position until his retirement in May, 1995.

He was well liked by his fellow employees at Cohen-Seltzer, Inc., as well as the clients he served on our behalf.

Robert S. Seltzer, CPCU
Chairman

June Meeting Recap

"Leadership for Business Professionals"
Held on Thursday, June 17, 2010
Featured

Brian O'Neill
Founder and Chairman
O'Neill Properties Group

Brian O’Neill leads a real estate development and construction organization that is dedicated to transforming abandoned properties into viable live, work, and play communities. O’Neill is one of the nation’s foremost experts on the subject of renovating and rezoning brownfields real estate. He is spearheading a movement that breathes new life into aging towns, commercial, and industrial sites in the Northeast part of the country; bringing employment, upscale housing, and tax revenues to areas that were once blighted.

Risk managers, company representatives, agents and brokers, financial, legal, and claims professionals joined us to find out how the man who was named “Citizen of the Year” by the PenJerDel Council of Philadelphia and “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst & Young and The Philadelphia Business Journal, developed the leadership skills necessary to transform communities like downtown Conshohocken, the Norristown Riverfront, and areas in Bucks County, Chester County, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island into vibrant places for businesses and families to once again call “home.”
